THE OLD ROBIN HOOD

Unfortunately the weather here isn't always good enough to go and take part in the amazing outdoor activities the Peak District has to offer. But even if the weather isn't great there are still plenty of indoor activities to keep you busy until in improves.

If you want to go shopping for a day there are many great places to go.

Sheffield's Meadowhall is the largest shopping centre in Yorkshire and 10th largest in the UK. It's home to many popular shops such as  M&S, Primark, Ted Baker, TK Maxx, Urban Outfitters, and Zara. It also has food hall with a lot of places to eat, so you can make a day of shopping there.

Sheffield City Centre also has plenty of these shops to wander around for a day. The main shopping area is the Moor or Fargate.

If you're not interested in Meadowhall or the city centre, there are plenty of towns in the Peak District where you can spend an afternoon shopping for antiques, clothes, souvenirs etc. A great town for a day out with the family is Bakewell. Only 15 minutes drive from the Old Robin Hood, Bakewell is a town by the River Wye, home to many historic buildings, excellent markets (every Monday) and of course the classic Bakewell Pudding. Other good towns to visit include Buxton and Matlock.

For a more active day out you could visit Sheffield's Ponds Forge. It has an Olympic sized swimming pool, a state of the art gym and a popular family swimming pool with a variety of water slides for the kids.

There is also Dronfield Sports Centre, which is home to activities for all ages, making it a great place for families. You can go to the gym/fitness suite, swimming pools, sauna or the brand new climbing zone with a rotating climbing wall.
